Hi all,
I am Lorenzo Pichetti, a third-year Ph.D. student at the University of Trento, Italy. After achieving a Bachelor’s and a Master’s Degree in Mathematics from the University of Roma Tre, I gradually became interested in High-Performance Computing (HPC). Right after my Master’s, I started a six-month internship at the Italian National Research Council (CNR) under the supervision of Prof. Massimo Bernaschi, which was followed by the start of my Ph.D. at the HiCrest lab, supervised by Prof. Flavio Vella.

Going into detail, my primary research focus is on GPU computing and communication-bound problems in large distributed systems. Other related interests include HPC interconnects, graph analytics, and HPC energy efficiency.

When I am not behind a laptop fighting against CUDA and C pointers, I like (love) to walk, hike and climb, doing my best to fully embrace the vibrant environment that surrounds Trento.

Both about mountaineering and research, I believe that living a passion without sharing it is like living it halfway. While I lack the skills to contribute in mountaineering, from the academic perspective I always seek out and enjoy every teaching opportunity that comes my way.

If you have any questions, thoughts, or anything else you’d like to share, please feel free to contact me.
