Hello,
I am Pedro, a first-year Ph.D. student at the University of Trento. I am currently working on reliability of machine learning algorithms, under the supervision of professor Paolo Rech.
I have a Computer Science Bachelor’s degree from UFRGS (Porto Alegre, Brazil) and a Master’s degree from CPE Lyon (Lyon, France).
Besides ML reliability, my main interests are Graph Neural Networks, Computer Vision, MLOps, Spatio-Temporal Forecasting, image/signal processing, Neuro-Symbolic AI, Remote Sensing data, and the use of ML for climate-related problems.
My most relevant past experiences in research were in the subjects of machine learning reliability, deep learning for 3D medical image segmentation, and the usage of graph neural networks for solving NP-Complete problems.
I have also worked 5 years in the industry, both as a Data Scientist and as a Machine Learning Engineer. In these experiences I have dealt a lot with MLOps, systems design, software engineering, data engineering, and with development, deployment and monitoring of machine learning systems in general.
I am also passionate about music (and everything related to it), math, and languages, but I am also always curious to learn about almost any other subject.
I am also a caffeine nerd, and enjoy preparing, drinking, and learning about coffee, tea, and yerba mate.
When I am not working, I love to play guitar, travel, try new foods, and read.
Currently, I speak portuguese, english, french, and a bit of spanish, but I am also learning italian, and hope to reach a comfortable level of fluency soon.
Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have anything you would like to ask me, suggest, or share!
