Last September, HIcrest group’s member and Ph.D. student Anas Jnini participated in the 2023 Flame AI Challenge on Kaggle and achieved the second place among 39 partecipants from all over the world.
This is a very significant achievement, confirming the knowledge and passion that Anas is continuously putting forward in his doctoral degree path.
The task was to develop a state-of-the-art super-resolution model that can reconstruct high-resolution versions of low-resolution 2D flowfield input images. The challenge was to preserve the fine details and structures in the flowfields while increasing the resolution, which is critical for maintaining the accuracy of simulations and analyses. The public leaderboard was computed according to the mean squared error measure of the predicted result compared with the ground truth.
