Kaijie Fan Wins Best Poster Award at “AI, HPC & QUANTUM” Event

The HiCREST Laboratory is proud to announce that our researcher Kaijie Fan has been awarded the Best Poster Award at the “AI, HPC & QUANTUM – Facing the Technological Challenge. Today” conference, hosted by E4 Computer Engineering.

The award recognizes the outstanding quality and scientific impact of the research presented in her poster:

“Energy and Performance Cost Characterization of GPU-centric Communication Libraries”

As High-Performance Computing (HPC) and AI workloads increasingly rely on massive GPU clusters, understanding the energy footprint alongside network performance becomes paramount. The study provides a comprehensive characterization of GPU-centric communication libraries, offering crucial insights into balancing performance optimization with energy cost efficiency.

This success highlights the strength of international and inter-institutional collaboration. The work was co-authored by a multi-institutional team of researchers:

  • Kaijie Fan, Jacopo Raffi, and Flavio Vella (HiCREST Laboratory, University of Trento)
  • Lorenzo Carpentieri and Biagio Cosenza (University of Salerno)
  • Tiziano De Matteis (Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam)
  • JaeHyuk Kwack (Argonne National Laboratory)

We extend our congratulations to Kaijie and the entire research team for this well-deserved recognition, and we thank E4 Computer Engineering for fostering research and innovation across AI, HPC, and Quantum technologies.
